Golden Globes recap

The 2021 Golden Globes Award Ceremony was hosted this past Sunday and things ran a little differently this year.

The award ceremony was held virtually for the most part and caused a few funny moments throughout the night. Here are the highlights of the 2021 Golden Globes ceremony.

Chadwick Boseman posthumously won the Best Actor award for “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.” There was a tribute for him during the ceremony. His wife, Taylor Simone, appeared virtually to accept Boseman’s award. Boseman truly deserved this award and it was a really touching part of the night. “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom” is now streaming on Netflix.

Another well-deserved recipient of the night was Anya Taylor-Joy, who won the Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series, Anthology Series or a Motion Picture Made for Television. She was awarded for her performance in Netflix’s latest limited series, “The Queen’s Gambit,” The series was well-received among both fans and critics.

Chloé Zhao won the award for Best Director for her recent film, “Nomadland,”which also won the award for Best Picture-Drama. It is really exciting to see Zhao win these awards as a relatively new and upcoming director. “Nomadland” is now streaming on Hulu. Chloé Zhao’s next film will be Marvel’s “Eternals” coming in November of 2021.

Jason Sudeikis won the award for Best Television Actor for “Ted Lasso.” His acceptance speech is spreading fast as Sudeikis can be seen wearing a tye-dye hoodie. It was a funny moment to see on screen.

During his acceptance speech, actor Don Cheadle can be seen making a gesture to Sudeikis, telling him to wrap it up. The gesture was all in good fun as the two laughed it off. The moment added to the humor of the night.

Another humorous moment of the night was Daniel Kaluuya’s acceptance speech glitch. Kaluuya won the Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture for his performance in “Judas and the Black Messiah.”

As Kaluuya said in his acceptance speech, his device was muted nearly the entire time. Although it was a bit upsetting Kaluuya didn’t get a chance to recite his entire speech, he was laughing about it after. He took his short time after to thank his mother, sister and niece. “Judas and the Black Messiah” is now streaming on HBO Max.

The Golden Globes Awards Ceremony was full of tears, laughs and cheers. It was interesting to see it all virtually. It will be interesting to see if the Academy Awards follow suit. Congratulations to all the award recipients!
