Beach volleyball recap and preview
After coming off of a tournament gaining its first program win, the Nicholls State University beach volleyball team competed in the UNO Beach Volleyball Invitational.
The team played against Spring Hill College, University of Louisiana-Monroe, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and University of New Orleans (UNO).
On March 6, Emily Venable and Emily Gauthreaux were able to come up with a win in a set against Spring Hill College, with scores of 19-21, 22-20 and 15-11. The Colonels ended their game against Spring Hill College with a loss of 1-4.
Later that day, the team went on to compete against the University of Louisiana-Monroe and lost all five sets.
On March 7, the team went on to play against two of its conference rivals, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and UNO. The team lost both games 0-5.
The Colonels will play Texas A&M-Corpus Christi again next weekend in the Southland Conference Roundup. The team will also be playing against Abilene Christian University, University of Central Arkansas and Stephen F. Austin.
The team hasn’t won any games against those teams, but it has won sets against Abilene Christian.
Against Abilene Christian, the Colonels have played two games with final scores of 1-3 and 2-3.
The matchup against Stephen F. Austin will be a first for the beach volleyball team.
The Southland Conference Roundup is March 14-15 in Houston.
