Nicholls will host annual giving campaign on March 19

Nicholls State University’s Give-N-Day, which is scheduled for March 19, is a giving campaign where supporters provide funding for organizations across campus.

Give-N-Day is an annual, 24-hour giving campaign that benefits the organizations involved, the students and the university as a whole.

Supporters who choose to make a donation are encouraged to designate their gift to the area and organizations on campus they feel most passionate about. Although, if the supporter does not wish to donate to a specific group, they can donate to the Nicholls Foundation, where the gifts will be used across the campus as needs arise throughout the year.

Those who donate do not have to stick to one organization, as they can donate to many. Donors can choose to give to more than one by clicking the gift basket in the top, right corner of the page of GiveNDay.org and by adding as many gifts as they want.

Donations are tax-deductible, and after donating, the donor will receive an email confirmation that can be used as a receipt for tax purposes.

This year’s goal for Give-N-Day is to get 100 participating organizations and at least 1,000 donors. Nicholls hopes to raise $100,000 during the Give-N-Day event.

For the advanced Give-N-Day event, the top three organizations were Sigma Gamma Rho, who received 28 gifts; Nicholls Choirs, who received 24 gifts; and the department of Languages and Literature, who received 14 gifts.

Last year was the first year of Give-N-Day, and over 1,100 donations were made and over $75,000 were raised for organizations, departments and athletic teams.

“I’m ecstatic with the results of our first Give-N-Day. This was a success,” Jeremy Becker, executive director of the Nicholls Foundation, said.
