New SGA president writes letter to student body

My Fellow Peers,

As we embark on this new year and semester, there is a lot of excitement in the air as to what 2019 will bring all of us. I hope for you that it brings success, friendship, love and the joys of life.

Before I continue, I want to express my sincere gratitude to Grant Henry and his leadership as our student body president. Having served alongside Grant, it gave me the ability to observe the love and care he had for Nicholls. It is my goal and mission to carry on this example. As a friend, thank you again Grant!

Secondly, I want to thank my executive team – Emma, Emily, Andrew, Ethan and Ms. Dolly – for making this transition as smooth as possible. I would also like to congratulate Dr. Michele Caruso on becoming the Associate Vice-President of Student Affairs and I look forward to working with her in this new position.

Moving forward as your student body president, I want you to know that your Student Government is here to work for you and your interests. It will be my goal, as president, to build a better student experience that is inclusive, fun, and makes you proud to be a Colonel. In order to accomplish this goal, I will lay out a plan of action that will be our guiding force in moving forward for Nicholls. Additionally, I will also be conducting listening tours and visiting student organizations to hear about the things that are important to you and how we can all work together to make this the best university it can be.

My administration’s legislative agenda and plan of action will consist of improvements to student life, academic affairs, SGA transparency, health and safety, governmental advocacy and much more. I will be presenting this plan at the first regularly scheduled meeting of the student senate, which will be Monday, Jan. 28 at 4 p.m. in the Leaders Suite of the student union. Once this plan of action is presented to the senate, I will then make it public to all of the campus community so that you can keep your SGA accountable.
