Why the end of the semester is the hardest time for a student

November 15, 2016

The end of the semester is always the toughest.

We’ve spent all semester working hard, but as the semester gets closer to the end, all we want to do is relax. We’re tired and all we want is a warm, home-cooked meal and a long nap.

It feels like exams and homework never end, and to make things worse, we still have finals to worry about. It’s our last chance to give that extra push and get the grade we want.

The end of the semester wouldn’t be so hard if we didn’t slack off. We keep pushing things off to the last minute that it all becomes overwhelming at the end. Just keep telling yourself that it will all be worth it at the end. A few more weeks of hard work will make winter break a lot more rewarding.

Probably the hardest part about the last couple of weeks of fall semester is knowing that the holidays are right around the corner. Many students haven’t seen their families in quite some time and the holidays give them a chance to go back home. If students had the option to drop everything and go, they would.

Thanksgiving break before finals is a blessing in disguise. It gives you a chance to take a break so you don’t find yourself having a 2007 Britney moment. A week off can also be dangerous for students who are prone to procrastination. You’re given a week off without a worry in the world. That is until it’s Sunday night before you have to go back to class and you’re stressing to put a paper or presentation together…

All I have to say is hang in there. Sure, it feels like it’s a lot of work and you’re not going to make it to the end without having a meltdown, but you will. Although winter break won’t last forever, at least you’ll be getting a fresh start when the winter or spring semester come rolling around.
