Students reveal reasons for choosing their brand of computers

With the world moving along in the digital age, it is impossible to complete college without having access to a computer.
Sometimes, deciding on a computer can be just as difficult as homework for your hardest class can be. Several students at Nicholls State University shared their opinions on various computer options. Bree Courville, biology-occupational therapy major from Praireville, said she is most comfortable with Apple products.
“I have the Macbook Air,” Courville said. “I picked it because I felt it would be faster than, say, a Dell.”
Courville said that her favorite aspect of the Macbook Air is that it is extremely light and loads quickly.
“I would recommend that everyone get a Macbook air,” Courville said. “It may seem like a lot of money but it’s worth it.”
Unlike Courville, Bryan Taylor, business major from Texas, chose an Asus.
“I chose it because it was a cheaper computer and it was the newest Asus model out at the time,” Taylor said.
Taylor said his favorite aspect of his Asus is the high-definition screen.
“Its not a super expensive brand, but it gets the work done,” Taylor said. “I would recommend it for anyone who wants a good computer without having to spend a lot.”
For Dominic Curole, secondary education major from Chalmette, price was also a big factor when deciding on his HP computer.
“When I was looking for a laptop for college I chose the cheapest one that was decent,” Curole said. “I was not looking to spend a lot of money on the laptop, I could always use the library computers.”
Curole said his favorite part of his HP is the touchscreen.
“It’s an extremely good laptop and I would recommend it for anyone who is looking to not to spend a lot of money,” Curole said.
The process of choosing a computer can be influenced by personal preferences and financial circumstances. Either way, getting to know the various types of brands and features of different computers can help make deciding on one a lot easier.
