The Society for Human Resource Management and the Office of Career Services are hosting mock interviews Nov. 14th from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. in 209 Powell Hall for students to practice job interviews with real professionals. Recruiters from various professional fields and human resource professionals will be on hand to conduct practice interviews with all interested students, according to Sonya Premeaux, SHRM adviser.
“It’s a chance to practice and hone interview skills with no risk,” Premeaux said.
To participate in the mock interviews, sign-up in Career Services by Nov. 8th.
Students must bring a job description that the interview will be based on and a $10 refundable deposit to register. The $10 deposit must be in check form made out to SHRM at NSU, and it will be returned when the interview takes place.
The interviews are videotaped and following the interview, human resource professionals will watch and critique the interview with students, Premeaux said.
SHRM Treasurer Tyrin Fultz, human resource management senior from Tangipahoa, said the tape is provided, and the student will keep the tape at the end of the interview.
Interviews will take about 20 to 25 minutes and 5 to 10 minutes for critique.
“Students should participate because the mock interview will give them a real world experience for the upcoming job market,” Fultz said.
