Midterm breakfast goes spooky this year on Wednesday with a Halloween theme, costume contest and other activities.
Having a theme is new this year, and every breakfast following will have one, Alyssa Daigle, Student Programming Association special events chairperson, said.
“We decided to go with a theme in order to get more involvement, and I encourage students to leave their exam frustrations at the door,” Daigle said.
Students can eat breakfast in the Galliano Cafeteria from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. and go to events in the Cotillion Ballroom until midnight.
Faculty and staff will serve breakfast to students carrying at least 7 credit hours, and students must present their Colonel Card at the door, Daigle said.
Rebecca Hulbert, University President Stephen Hulbert’s wife, is among the breakfast servers.
“I enjoy serving breakfast because it gives me a chance to visit with the students,” Hulbert said.
Students are encouraged to wear a costume because a grand prize will be awarded for the best costume, Daigle said.
A disc jockey will perform in the ballroom, and students can participate in relay races. Students can sign up in teams of two for relay races in the SPA office in Bollinger Memorial Student Union by 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Students who have attended this event in the past said they enjoyed the breakfast.
“I liked the scrambled eggs the best, and it was great to see everyone having fun together,” Jake Blanchard, safety technology senior from Thibodaux, said.
Other students enjoy having the break from studying for exams.
“I like the Midterm Breakfast because it provides a break for students to get away from studying,” Kristin Peranio, communicative disorders senior from LaPlace, said.
