The Interfraternity and National Panhellenic Councils held their formal recruitment over the past few weeks, and both councils consider it to have been a success with about 108 students accepting invitations to join. Greek adviser Thomas Stephens said though this is his first year at Nicholls, and he had no expectations, recruitment went very well.
IFC includes five fraternity chapters: Kappa Alpha Order, Phi Kappa Theta, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Tau Kappa Epsilon and Theta Xi. Stephens said 62 men accepted bids, or invitations, to join one of IFC’s chapters, which is 74 percent of the men who began the recruitment or rush process.
IFC President Alex Ludwig, mass communication junior from Houma, said everything went well, and every fraternity got a good number of new members.
NPC’s three chapters (Phi Mu, Delta Zeta and Sigma Sigma Sigma) received 46 new members, which is 75 percent of the women who began the recruitment process, Stephens said.
NPC President Danielle Montero, nursing senior from Thibodaux, said everything went fine, and they had “some great girls come through recruitment.”
Though Ludwig said IFC’s rush process has not changed much this year, Montero said that NPC did things differently this fall. They condensed some events to make the process shorter and visited high schools in the spring to recruit students who planned to attend Nicholls in the fall.
IFC and NPC are still holding open recruitment. Students wishing to join or looking for information should visit www.nicholls.edu/greek.
