When the Nicholls State football team launched its 2006 season ticket campaign this summer, tickets were selling rapidly due to last year’s conference win. Now that the season is only a week away, 732 tickets have been sold as of press time with many more sales expected before next Thursday.
Associate athletics director Easton Lebeouf said this is the busiest time of the year for season tickets.
“Being the season is only two weeks away, we are swamped,” Lebeouf said.
According to Lebeouf, the ticket office receives 20-30 season ticket orders a day, with the number growing as the season nears. Lebeouf credits the rate of ticket sales to last season’s success.
“Winning the conference definitely helped with ticket sales,” Lebeouf said. “Things really picked up for us.”
This year’s ticket plan includes six games. The basic plan costs $60 with prices ranging for chair-back and press box seats in the Colonel Quarters.
In order to help boost ticket sales, the University launched its “Champion” commercials, which air on various television stations.
The ticket office expects to reach the 800-900 range in tickets sold by next Thursday, and tickets will continue to be on sale until opening day. Both season and single-game tickets are available at the ticket office with single game tickets also being sold on the day of the game.
