This fall marks the tenth anniversary of the Colonel Card.
“To celebrate the anniversary, the University is offering a 10 percent discount at Jazzman’s Café and Bakery with the use of Colonel Cash,” Allison Ayo, director of ID card operations, said. There are also signs around campus celebrating the anniversary.
“In August 2002, the University decided it needed to become more progressive with the uses of the card,” Ayo said. “It was a year’s progress to get the card up and running.”
The University ID card that was used before the Colonel Card was only used in the Vernon F. Galliano Dining Hall and the Donald G. Bollinger Memorial Student Union Food Court. The Colonel Card now touches every aspect of faculty, staff and student’s every day activities on campus, Ayo said.
Colonel Cards are used in virtually every building. The Harold J. Callais Memorial Recreation Center is now added to the list of buildings that use the Colonel Card.
“The Colonel Card will act as the entrance pass to get into the recreation center,” Ayo said. The Colonel Card will also be used to rent towels or lockers with Colonel Cash only.
“The Colonel Card underwent one change from the time it came out, due to the changes in the fonts and logo of the University,” Ayo said. The Colonel Card used today is the design that it was moved to.
Colonel Cash is the money that students add on to their card via the Internet site or the load stations located on campus. Students can visit the Colonel Card website, nicholls.edu/colonelcard to get more information on adding funds.
