The 2000-2001 La Pirogue yearbooks are available for distribution. Starting next week, yearbooks will be distributed in the lobby of the Student Union from 8:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Students will need a valid student identification card to pick up yearbooks.
Distribution will go on for one week in the Union and then will resume in the Student Publications building on Ardoyne Drive.
Students who attended Nicholls for both fall ’00 and spring ’01 do not have to pay for yearbooks, but students who attended Nicholls only one of the semesters must pay $3.50. All other students, faculty and staff have to pay $25.
“This is the third year we are doing Union distribution,” Wade Rodrigue, La Pirogue editior, said.
“There have been more students this semester coming to pick up yearbooks,” Rodrigue said. There is always someone in the La Pirogue office available to assist students.
“We reach more students by going up to the Student Union since we are located at the back of the campus,” Rodrigue said.
Back issues of La Pirogue are also available in the Publications Building.
“Today someone came to pick up a 1997 yearbook.”
Any student who has to pay to get a year book has to go to the Student Publications building and see Anne Toloudis, office coordinator, about paying for the yearbook.
Rodrigue said there are several different reasons why “Crossroads” was chosen to be the title of the yearbook.
“We were between the old and new millennia, also because college students find themselves at crossroads during their [college careers],” Rodrigue said.
Also, this year’s book was the last that Lesley Marcello, former adviser for the The Nicholls Worth and La Pirogue, advised. In August it made 31 years that Marcello advised La Pirogue.
The yearbook includes the 2000 Saints camp, presidential elections, traditional Homecoming and speech forums. Also, last fall’s play, “Dracula,” was featured.
Faculty and staff are in this yearbook after being left out of the spotlight for a few years.
La Pirogue started working on next year’s yearbook earlier this year.
