R-and-B songstress Alicia Keys was the big winner when the nominations for this year’s American Music Awards were announced on Tuesday morning. Keys picked up five nominations, more than any other artist.
Keys is nominated for favorite female artist and favorite new artists in both pop/rock and R&B categories. She also took home a nomination for Favorite R&B Album.
Among the other multiple nominees is Louisiana native Tim McGraw. McGraw is nominated in the country music category for Favorite Male Artist. McGraw’s most recent release, “Set This Circus Down,” is up for Favorite Album. McGraw has already been named country music’s Entertainer of the Year at this year’s Country Music Awards.
Brooks & Dunn, Dave Matthews Band, Destiny’s Child, Janet Jackson, R. Kelly, Lonestar, *NSYNC, and Shaggy also received multiple nominations.
The American Music Awards will be handed out on Jan. 9, 2002. The ceremony will be broadcast live on ABC.Pop/Rock Category
