The Student Self-Assessed Fees Oversight Committee recently held a briefing. Next week they will hold a meeting to examine the budgets of organizations funded by student self-assessed fees. At the briefing James Irwin was elected chairman of the committee, and the students on the committee were advised by assistant vice president for business affairs, Mike Naquin, on the details of the committee.
The organizations who will be assessed are the SGA, the SPA, Peer Assistance, Cheerleaders, KNSU, the Nicholls Worth and the Mosaic.
The committee is entirely run by students, with Naquin and the vice president for student affairs, Dr. Eugene Dial, acting as advisers to interpret the board rules and give suggestions.
Each organization will have its own representative. Brent Callais will represent the SGA, James Irwin will serve for the SPA in addition to his chairman position, Kris Curole for Peer Assistance, Christian Joseph for Cheerleaders, Rafael Llanos for KNSU, Marie Ory for the Nicholls Worth and Brooke Champagne will stand for the Mosaic.
The Student Self-Assessed Fees Oversight Committee was established originally in 1997. The board ruled that there would be a fee oversight committee made up by the vice president for student affairs, the vice president for business affairs, and designated representatives on campus.
