Flag football has become a major part of college life for some students at Nicholls. The teams are more unified than ever, and all have expectations of making it to the state tournament. So who has the potential to survive the playoffs, and who will be putting away their football cleats until next year? There has been alot of controversy in the mens league between the number one team, the Raw Dawgs and the 504 Boyz who currently sit at number three. With Cornell Cornish as quarterback, and Cephas Williams and Darveltra Blakes as receivers, the technique of the 504 Boyz far surpasses that of the Raw Dawgs. But, if the 504 Boyz fail to put a hold on Raw Dawgs quarterback Ken Roark, their strategic plays will not be of any good use against the Raw Dawgs.

The number two team, the Swamp Dawgs have a prosperous chance at the championship title. If the defensive line is as strong as they were when I watched them two weeks ago, the other teams will be no match for the dynamic players. Even though they are placed at second, they are still in danger of falling to underdogs like the Black Tips, and the All-Starz.

The intensity of the women’s league will attract large crowds to the playoffs this year. These chicks are faster, and rougher than ever, and are willing to do anything to get a point on the board. The race to victory between the number one Cross Seekers and the number two team, the Untouchables has been an eye-raising event. The talent that has developed over the season is outstanding, and these girls are playing like pros.

It has been a long road for many of the teams, getting organized and settled in. Even though the fun is almost over with for some, this weekend will be a memorable experience for the teams that made it to the playoffs. So who are my picks for the championship battle?

Without a doubt, I know that the 504 Boyz will refuse to settle for less than first. So my prediction for the final game in the men’s league will be the 504 Boyz vs the Raw Dawgs. In the women’s league, my predictions are that the Cross Seekers and the untouchables will go into battle for the championship.
