The University will soon update its appearance with the installation of a new electronic color marquee to replace the existing marquee on the north end of campus near La. 1. “The new marquee is electronic, as opposed to being manually changed daily and having limited space,” Dr. David Boudreaux, vice president for institutional advancement, said.
“We will be able to run multiple messages throughout the day telling the public about all of the great things that are happening on this campus on a daily basis, rather than a select few.
“Sometimes, it’s difficult to make the selection because we have so many good things happening.”
The marquee, along with the new scoreboards for John L. Guidry Stadium, the softball field and the soccer field, was funded through a $420,000 donation from four local companies: Hibernia Bank, Coca-Cola Bottling Co. of Thibodaux, U.S. Unwired and Terrebone General Medical Center.
Boudreaux said the marquee should be installed by the middle of next week.
“It came in when the football scoreboard came in. At least, a third of it did. The advertising panels will come in and the Nicholls State University panel will come in when they come to install, but the actual digital display is in.
“We’re running fiber optic cable from the sign to Elkins, and that has to go under the road.”
The marquee will continue to be maintained by University Relations.
