From guarding the United States’ shores as a yeoman in the US Coast Guard in 1946 to the aftermath of World War II and after the explosion of her own real estate empire, Kitty DeGree has lived a long and very fulfilling life. Of her many jobs in the community, DeGree has held various positions on boards and the like in Monroe, including the Ronald McDonald House, a charitable organization of the McDonald’s food franchise, and the Veteran Home of Northeast Louisiana.
Her own charitable and personal donations run through a long, multimillion-dollar list to the University of Louisiana at Monroe and the founding of the Kitty DeGree Breast Health Center, one of her better-known contributions to the Monroe area.
The Kitty DeGree Breast Health Center advances the services for women in the Northern Louisiana area.
With state-of-the-art of technology, the center is able to provide any aid needed for routine checkups and cancer patients alike. The center has come to the support of thousands of women in Louisiana.
The New Hampshire native, giving so much of herself to so many causes, receives the honor to be inducted into the Woman’s Hall of Fame.
