Michelle Guidry, an instructor in the college of business, died of a brain aneurism over the winter break. In addition to being an instructor in the college of business, Guidry was also a mentor to many students. She was the advisor to the accounting fraternity, Beta Alpha Psi.
Cherie Boudreaux, Beta Alpha Psi President and Accounting Senior, from Thibodaux, said, that she took beginning and intermediate accounting classes with Guidry.
“She encouraged her students to do things to the best of their abilities and genuinely cared about her students,” Thibodaux said. “She was like a mother to her students.”
Although Guidry was very dedicated to always promoting Nicholls, Thibodaux said, she still had time to be extremely family oriented.
“If I ever had a problem, she was the person that I would go to for advise,” Thibodaux said.
Shawn Mauldin, Dean of the College of Business, was a long time colleague of Guidry’s. He said that she was an extraordinarily talented teacher and a great mentor to her students.
“She was a highly ranked faculty member in the College of Business,” Mauldin said. “Many students tried to get enrolled in her classes and they always had good things to say about her.
