Nicholls’ Student-Athlete Advisory Committee in association with the Lafourche Parish Government will host Colonel Kringle- a toy drive assisting local families in need this holiday season. Jolly Old St. Nick, also known as Santa Claus, will be making a special stop at tomorrow’s men’s basketball game vs. Loyola to collect unwrapped toys for those in need in exchange for a free photo with Santa and some of his helpers.
“Our student-athletes are encouraged to be involved in the community, and I’m glad to have them involved in such a worthy cause,” athletics director Rob Bernardi said.
The toys will go to the Lafourche Parish Government Community Services branch and be donated to families in need.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for Lafourche Parish Government to partner with Nicholls State University to give back to the community,” parish president Charlotte Randolph said. “We are grateful for the opportunity to help spread some Christmas cheer this year through this toy drive.”
There will also be a cash donation for those who do not bring toys but would still like a picture with Santa. The game is set to start for 6:30 p.m. and Santa will be available before the game for pictures and Christmas wishes.
