Vigorous winds, and the signs of a storm were not a problem for the 504 Boys. Nearly 40 spectators were in attendance to watch the 504 Boys defeat the Union Rats 46-0 on Tuesday afternoon. The 504 Boys started off the game with an intercepiton by Cephas Williams. Player Edwin Johnson scored the conversion points. In the next series of plays, Darveltra Blakes suprised the Union Rats with an interception. The conversion failed, leaving the score at 14-0. With only four minutes left in the first half, Blakes captured another interception. The score was 22-0 at half-time.
The 504 Boys came onto the field and dominated the second half of the game. Only two minutes into the second half of the game, Cephas Williams scored a touchdown. Quarterback Cornell Cornish connected a pass to Blakes for the conversion points.
Blakes took on the role of quarterback for a series of plays, and connected a touchdown pass to Fredrick Broovis, who also scored the conversion points. With two minutes left, Cornish ran 20 yards to score, and Keith Gray scored the conversion points to shut-out the Union Rats 46-0.
“The win was a team effort,” said Williams. “This game gave us a chance to try new things.”
Outstanding plays were also made by Union Rats players Clint Shexnider, and Brad Cheramie.
“With Cephas making two big plays, along with myself, we got another big win,” team captain Darveltra Blakes said. “Last Thursday we defeated the Raw Dawgs which was a big accomplishment. We are now number two in the standings, but we feel like number one. We will be going into the play-offs soon, and we will not be stopped.”
