Blaine Peltier, who comes off as being energetic, funny and/or just fun spends his time working at KNSU and participating in Nicholls Players Productions. “I describe myself as having an acquired taste,” Peltier said.
As an English major, Peltier has many responsibilities, talents and personalities. While he balances all of these, he manages to do what he needs to and does it with a smile.
As a native of Franklin, Peltier graduated from Hanson Memorial High School in 1999.
As a sophomore, Peltier focuses on many things.
“I want to get by, even though I don’t think I have studied since the fourth grade,” Peltier said.
Peltier not only focuses on his long awaited studying, but is also the vice president of the Nicholls Players.
“That is the theater organization on campus. We usually put on a play once a semester, but it sometimes varies,” Peltier said.
As vice president, he plays a big role in getting people to come to the plays.
“My goals are to get even more people to the theater, tell surrounding parishes that we do have a production theater and it is quite good. In another words, publicity, publicity, publicity,” he said.
Peltier not only attracts the crowds, but also acted in many of the plays.
“I have played in `Dracula,’ `Don’t Run Around In The Nude,’ (which was a single act) and `You Can’t Take It With You,'” Peltier said.
Peltier has been busy making his talents well known at Nicholls, as well as in the surrounding community.
“I have played in `Pygmalion’ with the Thibodaux Playhouse in April and May,” Peltier said.
“Our next play is `Dark of the Moon’ and I play John, which you can consider the lead of the play,” Peltier said.
“I got the role in the play by doing a reading, and I just fit the part,” Peltier said.
Not only does Peltier have duties as vice president, but he also has personal goals.
“Personally, I want to direct a show and maybe even write a show. As a group, I hope everyone has fun in what they are doing, and I want everyone to just know about the theater,” Peltier said.
“I am an on-air personality. I got the job by just being bored and asking. I like the job, but it would be even better if they paid me,” Peltier said.
“Basically, the show is joking and goofing around to wake people up. The show is called Metal in the morning with Kung Fu. I was just invited on as a personality,” Peltier said.
As a student, actor and a radio personality, Peltier shows not only his talent but his contribution to Nicholls.
“I am really happy to be here because the last school I went to was in New York, and I hated it. I came here and I have been happy ever since,” Peltier said.
He has many plans for the future.
“I want to first try to make a movie that expresses anything that I am feeling but entertains. If that does not work, I want to open a restaurant with my cousin Lacey and write movies on the side. If that don’t work, I get my Ph. D. and teach at Nicholls,” Peltier said.
“Basically, if you are one of those people who stop at the crosswalk and you’re not listening to KNSU, I pity you,” Peltier said.
