Nicholls students got together Labor Day weekend to help raise over $2,900 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.A telethon organized by Kappa Alpha fraternity took place from 6 p.m. Sunday until 6 p.m. Monday.
“Our national philanthropy is MDA,” Robert Tucker, Kappa Alpha president, said.
Tucker said the money raised this weekend was about $800 more than was raised at last year’s telethon. Kappa Alpha has been conducting the telethon locally for four years.
From 9 p.m. until 2 a.m. the telethon was held at Last Call. The money was not entirely generated from call-ins.
“We asked for donations at the door and ended up pulling in $100,” Tucker said.
