On Monday Delta Zeta, Phi Mu and Sigma Sigma Sigma – the three National Panhellenic Conference sororities at Nicholls- celebrated International Badge Day. This is an annual event during which sorority women everywhere honor their fraternal affiliations by wearing their badge or letters. This year’s theme was “Wear Your Badge With Pride”.
“The three Panhellenic sororities at Nicholls celebrated International Badge Day with presentation tables in Bollinger Memorial Student Union offering information on community service activities, fundraising and donations to worthy causes and scholarship opportunities,” Jeray Jambon, Panhellenic president, said. “The sororities also have certain dress codes that must be followed which are determined by each of the three individuals sororities.”
The purpose of International Badge Day is to recognize the contributions of sorority women and to promote the value of fraternal membership.
The NPC is one of the oldest and largest women’s membership organizations and represents more than 3.8 million women at more than 620 college and university campuses according to its Web site, NPCwomen.org.
The NPC Web site also states, “Each year, NPC-affiliated collegians and alumnae donate more than $5 million to worthy causes, provide $2.8 million in scholarships to women and donate 500,000 volunteer hours to their communities.”
According to the NPC Web site, “The National Panhellenic Conference is celebrating 106 years of excellence, partnership and Panhellenic spirit; the NPC looks forward because of the continuing collaborative efforts of its 26 member groups.”
This year’s celebration of International Badge Day is co-sponsored by Herff Jones Inc. Greek Division.
