The University has scheduled activities for the next three days in celebration of Homecoming Week leading up to the Colonels’ football game against the McNeese State University Cowboys at 6 p.m. Saturday in John L. Guidry Stadium. The theme for Homecoming Week is “Colonels on the High Seas.”
A parade is scheduled for today at 5 p.m. and will begin at the stadium and travel north on Audubon Drive.
The Nicholls Alumni Federation is sponsoring a bonfire and the Student Programming Association and Residence Hall Association are sponsoring a pep rally. Both events will take place in the field south of Babington Hall immediately following the parade.
The College of Business Administration Alumni Association will host a Homecoming social at 5:30 p.m. Friday in the Ponder Room and Courtyard between Powell and White Halls and the Residence Halls will sponsor a reunion, which will begin at 7 p.m.
A comedy and open-mic night has been scheduled for 8 p.m. Friday in the Bollinger Memorial Student Union. Members of the Nicholls community are invited to perform original poetry, music, stand-up comedy or skits. The Bollinger Memorial Student Union Board sponsors the event.
The Student Government Association and Student Educators and LeaderS are sponsoring a pre-tailgating celebration Friday at 10 p.m. in the Bollinger Memorial Student Union. There will be space available for dancing, music, food and a cash bar.
A Homecoming golf tournament is scheduled for 7:30 a.m. Saturday at Bayou Country Club. A Homecoming tennis tournament is also planned for 8:30 a.m. at the tennis courts on campus.
The College of Education Alumni Association will host a reception at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the lobby of Polk Hall.
A Homecoming buffet and pep rally is planned for 4 p.m. Saturday in the Quad.
A fireworks display will begin at halftime during the football game. The Nicholls Alumni Federation, SGA and SPA are the sponsors of the fireworks display.
Some of the activities that have already taken place this week are the paint the town red campaign, pirogue races and pep rally. Phi Kappa Theta fraternity were the winners of the men’s pirogue races. Phi Mu sorority were the winners of the women’s pirogue races.
