In a meeting which lasted all of 16 minutes, the Student Government Association moved to alter its sponsorship of the annual Cajun Zydeco Festival.Instead of sponsoring a poster as it has done in past years, the SGA will sponsor $100 towards the creation of a float for the festival.
“They asked that we provide a reward,” Scott Duplantis, SGA president, said.
“The $100 will go toward a reward presented to the student having the best sketched design.”
In other business, Duplantis spoke of the SGA’s intent to place music speakers in the front of Bollinger Memorial Student Union.
“It looks like the University supports it. The only thing they’re going to be doing is; they want to find out the exact decibel level that is going to appeal to where the students can hear, but to where it’s not going to disrupt class,” Duplantis said.
“They’re going to be doing some kinds of speaker experiments within the next few weeks.”
Nicole Perero, director of students’ rights and grievances, said she received a complaint about students braiding their hair on tables in Bollinger Memorial Student Union.
