At its meeting last night, the Student Government Association allocated $1,641.45 to the Chef John Folse Culinary Institute for the purchase of plates, cups, saucers and soup bowls.In a motion brought forward by Sen. Addie King, culinary arts major from Golden Meadow, the SGA granted the institute money for the purchase of 190 plates, 70 saucers, 70 soup bowls and 70 cups.
King said the dishes would help the department maintain a professional appearance.
“We don’t even have any plates that belong to us. We’re sharing with the [Family and Consumer Sciences] department right now,” King said.
In other business, Sen. Michael Cobb, acting chair for the campus improvements committee, spoke of the idea of improving the appearance of the area around Beauregard Hall.
“Also, we discussed putting a deck in between Peltier and Beauregard. Brent [Callais, SGA vice-president], and I spoke with Dr. Lajaunie, and he will get back to us in about a month with the plans that we hope are going to be drawn up,” Cobb said.
“Also, we discussed the pond in front of Beauregard. It’s tacky looking.”
Nicole Perero, director of student rights and grievances, said she received a complaint about offensively loud music coming from a personal radio in the Bollinger Memorial Student Union.
President Scott Duplantis announced the resignation of Jenny Landry from the judicial board.
Dr. Joanne Ferriot, vice president for student affairs, urged senators to attend Jubilee events.
