After dropping its first two games to visiting Southland Conference opponent, Southeastern Louisiana, Nicholls rallied to take game three 7-2 on Saturday. The game was the second of a twin-bill, which was played at Ray E. Didier Field. In the first game of the doubleheader they fell to the Lions 10-2. To open the series on Friday, Nicholls fell 7-3.
With its final game victory, the Colonels record now stands at 14-14 and 3-3 in SLC action, while Southeastern fell to 13-17 overall and 3-6 in the SLC.
Although Colonel coach B.D. Parker was glad his team won its final game, he was not pleased with his team’s play in the first two contests.
“I was very disappointed in the fact that we didn’t take care of business at home,” Parker said. “We didn’t get two out hits, whereas they (Southeastern) did.
“Also, we had numerous opportunities to get things done with runners on and we didn’t. All in all, we pitched good enough to win but we just lacked timely hitting.”
Game 3: Nicholls 7 Southeastern 2

An RBI single by Doug Gill and an Eron Morrow two-RBI double accounted for three of the runs, while the other score came on a Chuck Hickman RBI sacrifice fly.
Nicholls would add single runs in the third, fifth and seventh innings en route to taking a five-run victory.
Southeastern’s lone runs came in the top of the fourth and six innings.
Colonel pitcher, Ben Thompson, tallied the victory for Nicholls as he threw eight complete innings, giving up nine hits, while striking out seven.
With the win, Thompson moved his record to 2-3 on the season.
Leading the way at the plate for the Colonels was Dantonio, as he went 4-for-5 with an RBI.
Game 2: Southeastern 10 Nicholls 2
In the first of the two-game tilt Saturday, Southeastern jumped out to a 4-0 lead and did not look back. When all was said and done, the visiting Lions posted an eight-run victory over the Colonels.
The first four runs for the Lions came on a two-run homer by Anthony Krajanic in the first and a two-RBI double in the third. After tallying five runs in the sixth inning to make it a 9-1 ball game, the Lions added a final run in the ninth to seal the contest.
Nicholls lone runs came on a Dantonio RBI single in the fifth and a Kevin Larpenter RBI sacrifice fly in the seventh.
Colonel pitcher, Zach Murray, tallied the loss as he went 5 2/3 innings, giving up eight hits and nine runs, while striking out three.
