With only four Lady Colonel tennis team members making a recent trip to north Louisiana, Nicholls took two singles and one doubles win versus Southland Conference opponent Northwestern State University, Sunday in a 5-2 loss. Nicholls tennis coach Robby Flink was pleased with the way his team played, but he said the fact that his team began the match with two default losses was tough to overcome.
With the loss, Nicholls is now 3-9 overall and 1-6 in SLC action.
“I was happy with our performance, but we were not really there mentally,” Flink said about his team’s match against Northwestern on Sunday in Natchitoches. “I found a couple of bright spots, like the play of Rachel Wade.
“When you start with two default losses, it is hard to overcome against a good team like Northwestern.”
