For the last couple of weeks, the Nicholls community has been mourning the loss of a Hall of Fame graduate. On Sat., March 17, Berwick resident Andrew J. “Andy” Boudreaux died of a heart attack. He was 61 years old.
Boudreaux graduated in 1961 with a degree in business administration.
“I not only knew him when he was a student, but he and I have been good friends throughout life,” Dr. Alfred Delahaye, professor emeritus of mass communication, said.
“He was the 1967-1968 president of the Alumni Federation. He was the Editor of the 1960 La Pirogue, and, as Editor, he created the title of `Mr. Nicholls.’
“He created the idea, and a guy named Glenn Broussard was the first Mr. Nicholls, but Andy Boudreaux was the second Mr. Nicholls.”
Boudreaux is survived by his wife, Dolores Breaux Boudreaux, and six children.
