UFC 119 may be lacking in “big names,” but the PPV has five fights that every fight fan will find interesting. The PPV features many match-ups between veterans that want to make another run at being the top dog. When it comes to intriguing fights, look no further than the main event.
MMA legend Mirko Cro Cop takes on UFC legend Frank Mir in a fight where both men are trying to regain prominence.
Mir is known for his trash talk and he hasn’t held anything back for this fight. Mir has publicly said that he will submit Cro Cop in the first round, and Cro Cop responded by saying “Mir better keep his mouth shut.”
I can’t see this fight going past the first round, for I see this fight ending in a knockout or submission in exciting fashion.
The co-main event features Ryan Bader facing off against Antonio Rogerio Nogueira. Bader is undefeated, while Nogueira is coming off of an unimpressive victory.
Bader is known for his great wrestling abilities, while Nogueira is widely known for his jiu-jitsu skills. Both fighters bring power to the table, so something has to give in this fight.
I look for Nogueira to come out looking for something to prove after his last fight.
The winner will most likely meet light heavyweight superstar Jon “Bones” Jones.
The next fight on the card is Chris Lytle vs. Matt Serra. This is a battle between two veterans that always bring it.
Lytle is on a three-fight win streak, while Serra is coming off of a KO victory over Frank Trigg. Lytle is known for always getting the fight of the night award and there is no reason these two can’t steal the show Saturday night.
Then there are Evan Dunham and Sean Sherk. Sherk is a former champion and is on the path to regain the belt he lost two years ago.
Dunham is an undefeated, young and upcoming lightweight that has looked nothing less than impressive in his victories in the UFC. Both guys are nonstop and love to push the pace.
These are two of the best lightweights in the division, and this should be an outstanding fight.
The first fight of the PPV will be between Melvin Guillard and Jeremy Stephens. This is a fight I have been dying to see since the UFC first announced it.
Guillard is a New Orleans native, and his career has been rejuvenated since he started training with Greg Jackson.
Guillard is finally living up to his potential and will meet a fierce opponent in Stephens.
Stephens is on a two-fight win streak, and if you want to watch a fight where two guys stand and trade until someone falls, this is your match. This has all the potential to be fight of the night and fight of the year. When these two enter the octagon, don’t blink.
The PPV starts at 9 p.m. Saturday, and if you enjoy watching great fights, you should tune in.
