The Nicholls Athletic Department reported that head soccer coach Cindy Piper resigned her position Nov. 4. Piper completed a five-year stint as head coach and left with an overall record of 13-73-5.
Her tenure included a 4-38-3 Southland Conference mark.
This season’s team finished 2-16-0 and 0-9 in Southland Conference play. The Colonels won their first two games of the 2008 season but ended with a 16-game losing streak.
Athletics Director Rob Bernardi said the soccer program needed to go in a new direction. The search for a new soccer head coach began immediately.
“We’re in the process of putting together a search committee,” Bernardi said. “We hope to have a new coach in place before the next season.”
Assistant coach Kristen Fillmore will take over the soccer team in the interim.
