Greek Life will be sponsoring a Trick-or-Treat night in the Nicholls Quad on Friday. Jennifer Smith, mass communication senior from Houma, is the Homecoming chair and a member of Delta Zeta, which will be participating in the event.
She described the night as an alternative to a traditional Halloween, which involves taking children through “questionable” areas.
“It’s basically safe trick-or-treating if you live in a neighborhood that you might not think is so safe,” Smith says.
Students, teachers and staff are welcome to attend and bring their families to participate in the available activities.
“Different organizations will have tables and they came up with games and prizes for the children so they can play the games and get prizes and candy for trick-or-treating. And there will be music playing,” Smith says.
One of the goals of the event is to combine Nicholls Homecoming celebrations into the Halloween celebrations and to get people to participate in activities centered on the University.
“It will kind of get the community involved in Homecoming as well as the University,” Smith says.
Trick-or-Treat night will last from 5 to 8 p.m.
