While there is not a lot of entertainment in Thibodaux, there are still some places people could go. I am going to give you some of my favorite places because this is my column – I have the opportunity to be a little bias.
Rene’s Bar:
The first time I went to Rene’s Bar, I was at first a little weirded out. But I wanted something new – something of a slower pace.
Two years ago on a Thursday night, I wanted to get away from being squeezed, stomped and spilled on trying to dance. I also wanted to sit down because my heels were killing me. So a friend and I went down the street and saw this long, white, rectangular sign with blue text. I was intrigued, given that I had been living in Thibodaux a good while and never knew the place existed. When I opened the door, I was a little in shock – it was rustic, with the hardwood flooring, gaming machines situated to the right, Johnny Cash’s “Ring of Fire” playing on the jukebox, and a strange age range of patrons. Now, Rene’s is one of my favorite bars.
The Demittase:
I love this place because they have really good paninis. It is also an antique store so when I have an opportunity, I buy a few cute items. If I want to hang out with my friends or study, the best place is to sit by the window inside or the tables outside.
The Library (the one that doesn’t require books):
The Library was one of the first places I went when I first moved to Thibodaux. I have had some of my fondest memories at the Library, and I am not going to put in too much detail as to why I loved the place. I like the Library on Tuesdays, with a band playing, and on Wednesdays, iPod night.
