Nicholls had a five-point lead going into halftime but could not sustain it as Lamar came back in the second half to win the game 67-55.The game was senior day for seniors Christie Bryant, Tiffany Jones, Funaki Kefu and Dominique Washington. The Colonels were able to get back into the contest as they faced a 12-2 deficit to begin the game. The next five and a half minutes would produce a Nicholls 20-6 run to take a 22-18 lead.
Lamar came into the second half and seemed not to miss a shot attempt. They quickly regained the lead and the Colonel deficit rose to as many as sixteen points.
Dominique Washington led the Colonels in points with 17. She also notched a career best in her final game by converting 5 of 7 three pointers in the game. Fellow seniors Bryant, Jones and Kefu had seven, five and one respectively.
Freshman Jasmine Hoskins aided the Colonels with 14 points and a team high of six rebounds. The Colonels made a season high of eight three-pointers in the game.
The Colonels ended their season at (2-25, 2-14).
“I am very proud of these young ladies for competing the way they did the entire season, and with the effort and determination they showed today,” head coach DoBee Plaisance said. “In the locker room after the game, I told them how thankful I was for their hard work and dedication.
