Linley Collins, business administration sophomore from Houma, died June 27 in a single vehicle accident on US 90.According to Louisiana State Police, Collins’ vehicle veered off the road to the right and began to spin counter-clockwise due to a “driver error.” The 2004 Toyota Camry flipped several times, and Collins was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing his seatbelt.
Brian Boudreaux, freshman from Houma, developed a friendship with Collins through the boy scouts, of which Collins was involved in for 15 years.
“To me, he was like a mentor and a brother,” Boudreaux said. “He was really involved in boy scouts, always volunteering and was a great leader.”
Boudreaux said he will miss having conversations with Collins the most. “He was just one of those people who you could always just sit there and talk to,” he said.
Sandi Himel, freshman from Gray, met Collins through her boyfriend and also misses Collin’s company.
“I will definitely miss his funny jokes and just his presence around us,” Himel said. “He was good-hearted, always there to help and a leader.
