Head volleyball coach Erin Brown resigned from her post as head volleyball coach to take the head coaching job at Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston, Idaho.Brown, who began her duties as head coach of the Lady Colonels on May 18, said she resigned so she could be near her family in Idaho and the fact that the job was only two hours from her home.
Brown is engaged to be married on July 30 and said she and her fianc were planning to be at Nicholls.
“We were planning to be at Nicholls for awhile and then a job opportunity came up, and I couldn’t pass it up. It came down in the decision that we were going to be closer to family.”
Athletic Director Robert Bernardi said Brown’s resignation caught him by surprise.
“I had no advance warning,” Bernardi said. “I had nothing until I found out she had resigned.”
Bernardi said the next step in the process is to review applicants from the recent search to see if the top candidates from the initial search are still interested. He said they also made some additional recruiting calls.
Bernardi said they hope to have someone in as soon as possible.
“We have some interviews lined up for Monday,” he said. “We could have somebody named perhaps as early as the end of the week.
