Alyssa Daigle, psychology junior from Plaquemine, will be the president of SPA next semester.
Why did you want to be president of SPA?
I find that SPA is a good way to get involved and give back to the students. We give all major events on campus and it’s great to be a voice for the students.
What previous positions have you held?
SPA special events chair and social chair for Delta Zeta and I am currently vice president of programming for Delta Zeta.
What will you do as president?
I plan to keep the events as successful as they were in the past. I want to get more opinions from the student body on what they want to see changed and what they want us to bring. The organization wouldn’t make sense without them.
What are you looking forward to?
Working with the new executive board and having a successful year.
How will you handle problems in the SPA?
I don’t foresee any major problems. We have a pretty well rounded group but we’ll take it one day at a time.
What major events will we have at Nicholls?
New events haven’t been planned yet. Events like Comedy Night and Casino Night are popular and I think students look forward to them every year.
What are your plans after graduation?
I hope to go to get a masters degree and a doctorate in psychology.
What are some of your significant accomplishments in SPA?
One of the biggest has been planning Crawfish Day. I’ve been working on it all semester and I know it’ll be a big success.
What school issues are you passionate about?
The student body not having enough say. There would be no school without them and they need to be heard more.
What are your best traits?
I think I’m very outgoing and I have open ears and try my best to listen to everyone.
Your worst?
I try to get too involved with everything and take on too many responsibilities.
What would you like students to know?
I definitely have an open-door policy. If students see me on campus they can talk to me about anything. I’ll do my best to make events great.
