What were you doing when you were 14 years old? I was playing Pokémon and wondering what was going to happen on the next “Avatar: The Last Airbender.” Fourteen-year-old Robert Nay, on the on other hand, has had far more productive things on his mind.Bubble Ball, the new gaming sensation occupying the free games section of Apple’s app store was created by Nay, and it has become so popular that Angry Birds Seasons has been replaced by his game as No. 1.
The game’s design (although quite simple) will have you staring at your phone for quite a few minutes to figure it out. Though designed by a teenager, it’s actually pretty difficult.
As the levels get more complicated as you progress, this game will keep your attention until you bored, finish it or just call it quits. Chances are you may even throw your phone. The game is that tough at times.
The objective seems simple enough: to get the ball to the checkered flag in each level. To accomplish this, you have to use the given objects. Once you set up each object to make your ball reach the flag, you press the start button. This is where it gets tricky as gravity takes over.
It makes you feel a bit dumb to think that a teenager was able to create something to baffle the mind of an adult, but it’s pretty sophisticated. The graphics are simple and look like Nay made them without help, but the physics are pretty up to par.
If you have the time and battery power to waste, I would suggest you get this free app. What’s the big deal if you don’t like it? You can always hold your finger down over it and press the little black “X” that appears to make it go away.
For being made by a teenager and being so damn difficult, yet simple at the same time, I give Bubble Ball a 5 out of 10. If you have any game suggestions for me be sure to send it to [email protected].
