The Nicholls baseball team recently received a donation of a new Kawasaki Mule from 1970 graduate and former Colonels baseball player Glenn Diedrich. The Kawasaki Mule that was donated is an all-purpose utility vehicle that has a variety of uses including dragging the infield, landscaping and carrying equipment.
Head baseball coach Chip Durham said he is grateful for the donation, and the vehicle will assist in the upkeep of Ray Didier Field.
“Mr. Diedrich is a avid Nicholls baseball fan and is a great sponsor of our program. We greatly appreciate his generosity towards our team,” Durham said. “The utility vehicle is durable and will greatly aid us in field maintenance.”
The contribution marks the third time in 15 years Diedrich has donated a utility vehicle to Nicholls Athletics.
Diedrich, owner and general manager of Cycle World in Houma previously donated a unit to the baseball team when Mike Knight was head coach, and later donated a unit to the Athletic Department for general use.
Diedrich, who graduated with a degree in business administration in 1970, played at the second base position on the Colonels baseball team in 1966 and 1967.
Diedrich said he is pleased to be active in the Colonels baseball community and Cycle World is glad to be a strong supporter of Nicholls State Athletics.
“We feel very strongly about the presence of Nicholls State and we try to do anything to help the program,” Diedrich said.
