Amanda Thibodeaux, general family and consumer sciences senior from Houma, died on Sept. 14 at 5:15 a.m.Thibodeaux was a native of Crowley and a former officer of the Nicholls Association of Family and Consumer Sciences. Elizabeth Block, assistant professor of family and consumer sciences and NAFCS adviser, remembers Thibodeaux well and knows that she will be missed.
“The faculty and the students in the FACS department were so shocked and saddened to learn of Amanda’s death,” Block said. “She was in her last semester of coursework and was preparing to complete her internship and graduate next spring.”
Block said that Thibodeaux recently had a baby in which she took great pride.
“Amanda had a four-month-old baby girl who brought her tremendous joy,” Block said. “She was beaming with pride the day that she brought her baby to school and shared her with the faculty and students.”
According to Block, Thibodeaux was always willing to help the FACS department.
“(Thibodeaux) was a tremendous source of assistance at the annual pumpkin-painting event,” Block said. “Our thoughts are certainly with her family during this difficult time.
