Based on the book by James Siegel, “Derailed,” directed by Mikael Hfstrm, is a twisted story of two strangers, Charles Schine and Lucinda Harris, who meet on a commuter train. They were faithful to their spouses until their meeting. The pair gets trapped in a terrifying game with a stranger who threatens to reveal the affair unless he is paid.
Staring Jennifer Aniston as Lucinda, Clive Owen as Charles and Vincent Cassel as the main con artist, “Derailed” is a movie that first causes you to feel bad for a character but then come to realize that he/she is at the center of the crime.
No one is who you think, and they are all deceived by one another. You get confused as to who the real villain is and if anything that happens is true.
The story is centered on three con artists and a husband and father whose one-time, unfaithful stray traps him in the middle of a scam. In order to prevent the affair from becoming public, he complies with the con artist’s demands.
This suspense thriller confuses but keeps you interested. It is a full roller coaster ride until the end, leaving you with a feeling of being deceived.
