Southland Cinema at Southland Mall in Houma reopened last month, offering movies for only a buck and ninety-five cents. Ticket salesmen wait at the door with not only a big cheesy smile but also a big ole stack of nickels, ready to give you a nickel back when you hand them the two bucks for your ticket. Though the cinema has only four screens and is much smaller than Houma’s residential corporate movie monster, the low entry price and friendly, neighbor-next-door-like staff are hard to pass.
Currently, they are offering such movies as “The Passion of the Christ,” “Johnson Family Vacation” and “Man on Fire.” On weekday mornings this summer, for the children-as well as for the kid in all of us-Southland Cinema is offering wonderful movies such as “The New Adventures of Pippi Longstocking,” “Muppets from Space” and many more.
Check out Southland Cinema today, and don’t forget to buy a large popcorn and large drink while you’re there-that’ll earn you a free ticket upon your next visit!
