Junior catcher Brittany Marcet has started 28 games for the Colonels this season. Marcet leads the team in RBIs with 16. She spoke to the Nicholls Worth after a victory over Stephen F. Austin.
Q: What made you decide to come to Nicholls?
A: I first started coming to Nicholls because me and my sister were both coming, and it was close to home. It’s a small school, and I like how small it is.
Q: Where are you from?
A: I am from Houston, Texas.
Q: When did you started playing softball?
A: I started playing when I was 10.
Q: When did you realize that catcher was your position?
A: I started playing it when I was ten, so I just continued with it.
Q: Is there some added responsibility being a catcher?
A: Yeah, you are supposed to be a leader on the field. You have to help the pitcher and the rest of the team know where to go.
Q: What’s the number one fundamental about catching?
A: You have to keep the car in front of you.
Q: How does it feel being on such a young team?
A: It is difficult sometimes, but I help them out because I’m older. They look up to me because I’m older, so I help them.
Q:What is your major?
A: My major is general studies.
Q: What do you want to do in the future?
A: I want to be a firefighter.
Q: That is an interesting choice. What do you do for that?
A: You just have to go to the academy, and you pick what department you want to go to.
