In the fashion world, as designers and buyers always strive to find the latest trends and fashions, the result is usually the re-workings of styles and trends of the past, and 2007 is no exception. In the year of leggings, skinny jeans, corked-heels and celebrities refusing to wear underwear, 2006 was a fashion-crazed year. However, 2006 was only a precursor to what the new year will bring in terms of fashion all over the nation, from the streets of New York City to campus.
Liz Waler, fashion editor at Marie Claire U.K, was quoted on allheadlinenews.com on some trends that will be popular in early 2007.
“We’ll be seeing a lot of dresses,” Waler said. “Everything from babydolls to shirtwaisters.”
There will be a continuation of fashions from the 80s, with neon jewelry paired up with black to create a more dramatic effect.
However, fashion in early 2007 will have a variety of themes, from 60s bohemian to safari. Primary colors, prints and big handbags are just examples of what stores are going to carry.
Owners of boutiques in Thibodaux have predictions on what trends will take off in 2007.
Terry Percle, owner of Queeny’s Beauty Boutique said that the feminine, romantic look is going to be a popular trend for the spring. “Espadrilles, floral prints and flat shoes are going to be big,” Percle said. “Navy blue and patent leather shoes from the fall collection are also popular.”
Penny Rush, owner of the new boutique in downtown Thibodaux, Rush, is an advocate for the skinny jeans that were in style last year. “They’re great,” Rush said. “Skinny jeans can actually go a long way, and you can dress them up or down.”
Rush and Percle both agreed that past trends never truly go out of style. At the Rush boutique, there’s even a case displaying Rush’s grandmother’s one-piece, floral swimsuit from the 1940’s. “There’s always something from the past that comes back,” Rush said.
Not to leave out the fashion-conscious male, there will be a “preppy” revival in the wardrobe department. The hair will be shorter and less shaggy hair, according to hairfinder.com.
Overall, the best fashion trend for 2007 is for people to be comfortable in their own skin and wear what feels best for him or her to enhance what is the best fashion accessory, their personality.
