Though the Student Union food court reopened last semester with several new restaurant options, expanded space and a new Colonel’s Retreat, a food expo today will officially present the remodeled space to the Nicholls community.
Starting at 4:00 this evening, the food expo will feature music and entertainment in the Student Union food court area as well as samples of the food the Union has to offer. The event is free for students, faculty and staff.
Alicia Voisin, Student Promotions Coordinator for Sodexo, said despite a ribbon-cutting ceremony last semester, the food expo aims to officially present the food court to not only incoming freshmen but also Nicholls veterans.
“It’s mostly a welcome back event for students to show them what we have to offer,” Voisin said. “We would like to get both new and old students to come and see what we have.”
Voisin said that even though the new eateries and features of the Student Union food court were added last semester, it took a while to work out the kinks and make the changes final and presentable.
Students new to Nicholls were informed of the event during orientation meetings.
“I will definitely be attending,” Jordan Picou, Elementary Education freshman from Houma, said. “I think that it’s a good idea and a way to encourage new students to see what the Student Union has to offer. Plus, you can’t beat free stuff.”
“It’s pretty much all about students coming to hang out, have fun and try some new things,” Voisin said.
