In a recent meeting including Eugene Dial, vice president for student affairs; Jaret Hubbell, SGA president and Donell Brown, freshman from Thibodaux, Brown resolved the ongoing issue with Hubbell concerning his denial into the SGA as an appointed senator. Brown said that he wants to go on with university life and that he thinks the issue about possible discrimination from the SGA has gone on for too long.
“What started out as a disagreement turned into something that was major,” Brown said.
Dial said that he was glad Brown decided on this means of action because he did not want this issue to interfere with Brown’s schoolwork. He said that Brown was a student in good standing and should now completely focus on school.
“As it appears to me, no student did anything to intentionally hurt you,” Dial said to Brown. “And if they did hurt you, I want you to know that students like you and respect you.”
Brown apologized to both parties for letting the issue go so far, and a handshake between Brown and Hubbell was exchanged to mark the resolution.
Brown also decided that no legal actions will be taken and that he will continue to work as a ticket writer on campus.
