Five things Nicholls students should do before they graduate

In a world where movies draw far from reality, college students are depicted as carefree individuals who don’t have to worry about school or money.

This isn’t the case, but that doesn’t mean you can’t create unforgettable moments during your years as a college student. You don’t have to burn a hole through your wallet or do something illegal to make memories. Here are some things you need to do before you walk across the stage at graduation.

Attend a homecoming football game.

There is no way you can graduate from college without going to your school’s homecoming football game. Whether you like football or not, going to football games is more than just watching football. In order to get the full experience, you have to attend a tailgate and surround yourself with the excitement and school spirit other students express. It doesn’t matter if your team wins or loses because in the long run you won’t remember the score.

Spend your Thursday night in Downtown Thibodaux.

Do you need something to do on a Thursday night? Make your way over to Downtown Thibodaux where you can find a good amount of Nicholls students dancing and drinking their night away. Bar hop Rox’s Bar, Rene’s and the Red Goose Saloon to get the full devils triangle experience. Just be prepared to have a hard time waking up for your classes the next morning.

Spend an entire weekend doing absolutely nothing.

As college students, you’ve had plenty of practice in the art of procrastination. Show off just how good college students can be when it comes to procrastination by spending an entire weekend sleeping or binge watching Netflix. Who knows, you might break the Guinness World Record for the longest nap taken ever. Let Netflix ask you if you’re still watching, because that’s how you’ll know you’re binge watching like a professional. It’s totally fine to have a weekend to unwind. You’ll miss those days once you graduate.

Pull an all-nighter for no apparent reason.

No, staying up to study for an exam doesn’t count. Pulling all-nighters should be fun and occasional. Get a group of friends and challenge each other on who can stay up the longest. Explore Thibodaux and snack on some donuts along the way. Go on a scavenger hunt or take a long drive. Finish your sleepless night, or morning, by being the first in line to eat at your favorite breakfast joint. After a delicious breakfast, you’ll be sleeping like a baby.

Take a selfie with the school mascot.

The best way to make your college experience unforgettable and fun is by showing off your school pride. You won’t want to remember your college years if you didn’t have any fun. Whenever you see Colonel Tillou strolling around, stop him and take a selfie. Make it a game and take a different selfie each semester so you have a nice collection by the time that you graduate. You’ll have a nice reminder of all the school-sponsored events you went to and how you’ve changed over the years.
You’d be surprised on how fast time flies. Before you know it, you’ll be walking across the stage and kissing Nicholls goodbye. Make the moments last.
