The second week of students being back on campus marked the first week of spring practice for the Nicholls State University Football Team, who are getting ready for their upcoming spring season.
The team, along with Coach Tim Rebowe, are all pumped up to get this upcoming season started. Of course, there were a few bumps in the road.
“There’s still so many rules we had to follow.” Rebowe said when asked if they thought there was an advantage of playing during the spring.
“I was so proud of them. How they handled it. They did everything that we asked them. That’s what hurts so much. Even over the summer, and all the things that they did, they did things right. They wore masks, they socially distanced, and I was really proud of them for that.” Rebowe said.
Senior Wide Receiver Dai’Jean Dixon believes the team has responded to the changes and needs to keep responding.
“As long as we follow protocol, we should be good. We don’t want anybody to sit out. We need each and every one of us on the team,” Dixon said.
Nicholls still has a month of spring practice until the first game. The opponent for the game at John L. Guidry Stadium on Feb. 19 is still to be announced.
