The weekly Student Government Association (SGA) meeting consisted of reports and the installation of two new officers.
The meeting began with SGA President Emma Bourgeois’ report.
She said that she conducted interviews of people for the spring court and for the election commission. She also said she is waiting for more interviews to take place.
She also reminded that senate of the upcoming supply drive.
Lastly, she said that Vice President Mark Wiltz’s resignation does stand and that Vice President Pro-tempore Tyler Legnon will be stepping in to take his place.
Next, SGA Director of Student Rights and Grievances Ethan Adams gave his report.
He briefly spoke of a student request to redo the wood decking of the sitting area outside of the student union. No further discussion took place at the announcement of this topic.
Next, he spoke of reinstating the flag display in the student union in order to honor all of Nicholls’ international students. He said that in addition to the flags, other objects of sentiment were also being considered.
Additionally, Human Resource Director Steven Kenny addressed the senate regarding the changing of the campus street names.
“The SGA was asked to come assist in coming up the street names the first go-round, so we want the SGA to be involved in the changing of them now, in order to bring it full circle,” Kenny said.
Finally, Supreme Court Justice Cole Legrange swore in Tyler Legnon as SGA vice president and Sydney Matherne as vice president pro-tempore.
