SPA uses student opinions to pick headliners
April 11, 2019
The process for picking a headliner for Crawfish Day starts with the Student Programing Association (SPA) asking students for their opinion.
“We want to get an artist that the students want to hear,” Grace Lacour, SPA’s vice president-elect, said.
Lacour said SPA asks for student opinions at their committee meetings.
According to Lacour, after student’s opinions are collected, the next step to select the headliners is to contact vendors.
During this process, SPA sees which artist would best meet the criteria for what the students want, all while staying in budget.
Once SPA has all the options, they have to get the headliner approved.
“Getting a headliner approved is just a matter of the executive board discussing the options,” Lacour said.
The final decision is left to the special events committee head.
According to Lacour, the headliner is announced once the contracts are signed and approved on both sides.
This year’s headliner for Crawfish Day is Bryce Vine.
